Brian Reyes of San Antonio, Texas, is a City Councilman representing Place 5 in Garden Ridge and a Captain in the San Antonio Police Department, with over two decades of committed public service. His professional journey focuses on community-based leadership, public safety, and continuous learning. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s and Doctorate in Criminal Justice from Texas State University. He is pursuing an MBA at the University of Texas at San Antonio to support his public leadership role further.

Brian began his law enforcement career in 2001 as a Police Patrol Officer and advanced to Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and now Captain. While gaining field experience, he also remained dedicated to academic growth. His role on the Garden Ridge City Council includes overseeing municipal budgets, reviewing project contracts, and engaging with the community.

Brian's background includes investigative work in Homicide and Property Crimes. From 2016 to 2018, he served as Internal Affairs Commander, focusing on departmental integrity and oversight. He later became the Training Academy Commander, leading programs to prepare officers for leadership roles. As an Adjunct Professor, he continues to teach courses in criminal justice and management at universities across Texas.

Brian also served as Commander of the San Antonio Airport Police Department, overseeing operations supporting close to 10.7 million passengers annually and collaborating with various agencies. As Patrol Operations Commander, he leads responses to critical events and provides direction to ensure public safety and operational effectiveness.

Brian resides in Garden Ridge with his wife and four children and remains active in the community through church involvement and coaching youth sports. His dedication has been acknowledged through a nomination to assist the Presidential Commission on Law Enforcement, and he continues to contribute through participation in professional organizations.
